Office of the Director of Student Personnel Services
The mission of this office is to provide the overall leadership and strategic direction in the development and support of educational programs in conjunction with the Superintendent and School Principals. With the aid of an Administrative Assistant, the Director provides an array of services to the district.
This office ensures that the school district’s curriculum, instruction and assessment programs are aligned with federal and state standards and best practices in pedagogy and teaching techniques. The office also coordinates and ensures that special education services and student personnel services are developed and implemented in effective ways to benefit students. The office serves students, parents, staff members, and community members by providing instructional leadership, including the training and support of teachers.
This office facilitates a number of committees to oversee special area programming and to ensure high quality implementation of the Salem Curriculum Management Cycle, including the following: District Planning and Placement Team Committee; Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Committee (CIA); and other committees / councils formed on an ad hoc basis to advance programs and services. It should be noted that the Director of Student Personnel Services works collaboratively with personnel in the East Lyme School District, as well as with those in other school districts receiving Salem students, to ensure the proper level of coordination of effort on the part of all districts involved for the benefit of students.
