School District Board of Education

The Salem School District Board of Education is charged by the statutes of Connecticut and the regulations of the Connecticut State Board of Education with providing and operating the public schools in Connecticut. It is the function of the Board to set general school policy and, within the framework of State Board regulations, to establish guidelines that will ensure the proper administration of the school district. Salem School District has a nine-member elected Board of Education that meets once a month for a general, public business meeting and several times a year to complete subcommittee and ad hoc committee work.

Stephen Buck, Chairman

Retired from East Lyme Public Schools with 32 years combined experience as a Teacher and Administrator, for a combined 36 years as an educator; Bachelors of Science degree from Towson State College. M.A. degree in Special Education from the University of Connecticut; Parent of two Salem School and East Lyme High School graduates; Served on the Facilities Subcommittee, Curriculum Subcommittee, East Lyme/Salem Cooperative Agreement Subcommittee, Interim Part-Time Superintendent Search Process Ad-Hoc Subcommittee, and as a liaison on the East Lyme Board of Education; Board service since November 2009; Current Board Chairman since December 2011. 
 
 
 
 
 Dinis Pimentel, Vice Chairman
Business Development Manager, Navy Officer; B.S. Nuclear Engineering, M.S. Mechanical Engineering; Former Chairman of the Town Building Committee; Liaison member of the East Lyme Public Schools Vision Facility Committee; Parent of two Salem School students; Board service since December 2007; Current Vice-Chairman since December 2011.
 
 
 
 
 

Pamela Munro, Secretary

Retired public school teacher; B.S. degree in Elementary Education, minor in Sociology from the University of Bridgeport; State Department of Education CMT Mathematics Advisory Committee 2004 to present; served as a member of the Salem School District Environmental Committee 2003-2004; Parent of a Salem School and East Lyme High School graduate; Served on the Policy Subcommittee, Curriculum Subcommittee, East Lyme/Salem Cooperative Agreement Subcommittee, CABE Government Relations Committee since 2005; Liaison to the Old Lyme Area Cable Advisory Council since 2006 - Vice-Chairman since 2009; Liaison to the LEARN Board of Directors since 2006; Board service since July 2004; Current Secretary since 2008.
 
 
 
 
 

Linda Robson, DDS, Treasurer

Currently working as a general dentist; BA in Biology from Lehigh University and a DDS from Northwestern University; Parent of two daughters at Salem School and a son at East Lyme High School; Served on the Policy Subcommittee (Chair), Public Relations Subcommittee (Chair), East Lyme/Salem Cooperative Agreement Subcommittee, and other various ad-hoc subcommittees; Board member since April 2006; Current Board Treasurer since 2009.
 
 
 
 

Robert Green

Retired Chief Petty Officer, U.S. Navy; Analog Engineer for URS Corporation; B.S. in Computer Science from Eastern Connecticut State University; Parent of a Salem School and East Lyme High School graduate; Served as Chairman of the Facilities Subcommittee, member of the Town Building Committee, member of the CABE State Relations and Government Resolutions Committees since 2000, member of the Town of Salem Board of Assessment Appeals since 1998 – Chairman since 2002; Served as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Education from 2002 to 2011; Board member since November 1997.

George Jackson
Retired Navy Captain, commanded three nuclear submarines; Former Chairman of the Joint Military Operations Department at the Naval War College certifying JPME credit or over 2,000 mid-grade and senior officers as part of a Master’s degree program; Was a classroom aide at East Lyme High School before becoming certified to teach Physics and Chemistry; Taught at the University High School of Science and Engineering in Hartford; B.S. in Nuclear Engineering and Naval Science; Served on the Planning and Zoning Commission; Board service since November 2011.

State School Teacher at York Correctional Institution; Certified in English 7-12; B.A. in English from Eastern Connecticut State University;  Alumni of Salem School; Parent of a Salem School student; Served on the Policy Subcommittee and the Town Building Committee; Board service since November 2009.
 
 
 

Mary Ann Pudimat, M.D.
Physician (Anesthesiology); B.S.
