Pre-Kindergarten ProgramThe Pre-Kindergarten Program at Salem School is designed to provide learning activities for eligible Special Education students, ages 3 and 4, with a balanced number of their regular education peers. Special education students are identified through the Planning and Placement Team process.
The Preschool program is only open to Salem residents. Children will be given placements based on the followin criteria in order to mainatin a balanced classroom: Children with Special Needs; 4 year old typical peer models as space permits; 3 year old children found to be at risk developmentally (through a monitoring process over time); and 3 year old typical peer models (must be 3 years old by September 1st) as space permits. Note: Regular education students cannot be eligible for Kindergarten; that is, cannot reach the age of 5 on or before January 1st. If a placement is offered into the program, parents will receive notifictaion by April 30th. Tuition and transportation for regular education children will be the parents responsibiilty.The Pre-Kindergarten program is planned for 4 days a week, Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, from 8:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Tuition and transportation for regular education students will be the responsibility of the parent.
